Our popular Quail Island Pirate Hunt is back for the school holidays!
Ahoy, matey! Legend has it a pirate’s treasure was lost on Quail Island long ago. Six posters are hidden across the island, each showing a picture of a treasure.
Can your crew find them all?
Collect your Treasure Map, explore the island, find the six lost treasures located on posters and return your completed map to the crew to claim your real pirate’s treasure (aka chocolate coins!)
What is the Quail Island Pirate Hunt?
🗺️ Collect your Treasure Map from the crew.
🚤 Catch the ferry to Quail Island.
🏝️ Search the walking tracks for six hidden posters, each showing a picture of lost treasure.
✍️ Write down each treasure as you discover it.
🍫 Return your completed Treasure Map to the crew and collect your pirate’s treasure aka chocolate coins.
This event is for a limited time only during the September/October school holidays and often sells out. Please book in advance. Choose from a morning, afternoon or full day trip. Make sure you book your return trip!
Where does the Pirate Hunt leave from?
The boat to Quail Island departs from B Jetty in Lyttelton, the same jetty used by the Diamond Harbour Ferry, making it easy to find. Please ensure you arrive in Lyttelton with plenty of time to find a park and make your way over the bridge at the Norwich Quay/Oxford Street intersection to find our vessels.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please note you must book both a departure and a return time ticket when booking. Please allow at least two hours to complete the treasure hunt.
Departures (Lyttelton to Quail Island):
9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am, 12:00pm
Returns (Quail Island to Lyttelton):
1:30pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm, 4:30pm
From Saturday 26 September through to Sunday 11 October 2026.
