Diamond Harbour is great for a day trip and you can visit historic Godley House for lunch, dinner or just a drink. Godley House has attracted visitors from Christchurch and beyond for more than 100 years. Residing grandly atop Diamond Harbour's finest headland, this historic building is set amidst three acres of tranquil beauty. Established trees, elegant lawns and gardens, dramatically frame breathtaking views across Lyttelton Harbour. Godley House is open daily.
Another point of interest is historic Stoddart Cottage. Located to the back of the playing field and behind the shops lies the beautifully restored 19th century cottage and garden. Brought over from Australia and constructed by Mark Pringle Stoddart around 1860, Stoddart’s Cottage became the birthplace and a
home of one of New Zealand’s foremost flower painters and early landscape artists, Margaret Olrog Stoddart.
The pretty town of Diamond Harbour also has a small café for tea, coffee or snacks. The more energetic can walk to a great sheltered beach or tackle the walk along the cliff tops to Purau Bay or even to Mount Herbert.
