Our cruises operate in two calm and sheltered harbours. In fact very few people have been sea sick with us but if you feel you may suffer from some motion sickness here are a few handy tips.
- Be Prepared. Once you get seasick there's not too much you can do about it. As they say prevention is better than cure so think ahead.
- Ginger is an ancient cure for many forms of nausea. Ginger can be ground in a food processor and added to your favorite cold drink in small amounts. You'll need to drink this at least one hour before your trip. Ginger root powder or capsules are also available in stores and are likewise effective.
- Another potential solution is vitamin B6. A 500 mg capsule should be taken about an hour before you set sail.
- Acupressure wristbands. These bands slip on over the hands and tighten over pressure points in the wrist. These should be put on before you climb aboard.
- Try not to get on a boat with a completely empty stomach, as gastric juices tend to promote nausea.
- When you get on the boat, sit outside on the top deck, get lots of fresh air and face forward.
