EASTER EGG HUNT - QUAIL ISLAND

Celebrate this Easter on Quail Island, gather your family and friends for a fun filled day hunting the Island for pink and blue stones, then exchange the stones for scrumptious Easter Eggs!  On your hunting trip you will also discover ship wrecks, volcanic cliffs, stunning scenery and even a leprosy grave!

Quail Island is a 15 minute ride by ferry from Lyttelton harbour.  On board the ferry you will be given a map of the island.  There are no shops on the island so make sure to pack a picnic, put on your walking shoes and above all, have fun!!

Free fish and chips on 3.40pm Akaroa Harbour Nature Cruises this summer!

Two of Akaroa’s greatest treats are being combined from Boxing Day to provide a real kiwi taste in the resort over the summer period. Every passenger on a 3.40pm Akaroa Harbour Cruise run by Black Cat Cruises will be treated to free meal of the town’s world famous Akaroa fish and chips.

“It’s a unique and very Kiwi offering that combines two of Akaroa’s best experiences,” Black Cat Cruises Managing Director Paul Bingham says. “Passengers can proceed straight off the cruise and enjoy a free meal of fish and chips. What could be better and more Kiwi than that.”?

The offer runs from Boxing day until the 28th of February 2010 and Bingham says he expects the unique package to be popular not only with visitors to the region but with locals as well.

Free ferry for Supergold card holders

Did you know that Supergold card holders now get free use of the Diamond Harbour Ferry? The free ferry is for services on weekdays between 10am and 3pm and after 6.30pm and all day Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.

A ferry has been operating from Lyttelton to Akaroa since about 1888. These days Black Cat Cruises run a fast catamaran which will whisk you over the harbour in less than 10 minutes.

The ferry departs from B Jetty in the port of Lyttelton. You can either take a public bus which meets with every ferry or park your car in Lyttelton and walk over the over bridge to the ferry terminal. Godley House is a short 5 minute walk up the hill from the jetty or there is a free shuttle, please phone ahead to book this on 329 4880.
